Agricultural History In Çukurova

Çukurova Region is a region with the most fertile lands of Turkey, which has contributed significantly to the history of agriculture from past to present. It is the region that covers the provinces of Adana, Hatay, Osmaniye and Mersin, located in the east of the Mediterranean. 73% of Çukurova Region is located within the borders of Adana province, where our company as Ram Citrus also produces. In this region, which is enriched by the alluviums carried by the Seyhan, Ceyhan and Berdan rivers and where irrigated agriculture is practiced, a wide variety of products can be grown with a yield above the average of Turkey and many developed countries due to the favorable ecological conditions.

It has been documented in archaeological excavations that this piece of land also fed the societies that lived on this land thousands of years ago. Barley and wheat, which are especially important in terms of grain products, are cultivated in the region. In addition, products such as chickpeas, lentils, vetch and peas originate from Mesopotamia, while products such as citrus fruits, stone seeds, grapes, apples and pears originate from the Caucasus.
